I know it's been awhile since I've posted! Last term got crazy busy. So I thought I'd give you a recap of classes and projects. I took three classes last term:

Shakespeare's Legacy: This class focused on how Shakespeare's work has been adapted over time.

Shakespeare and Theatre Practice: This class was divided into three parts each focusing on different aspects of performing Shakespeare. First we started with text analysis, second was Stanislavski and Shakespeare, and last we looked at movement-base approaches like Lecoq and Laban.

Shakespeare and Society: We explored the concept of 'civic-Shakespeare' which explores how to create projects or events intend for the public. These projects might adapt Shakespeare's work, seeking to make it more accessible for people and aims to bring people together, specifically targeting those that think Shakespeare isn't for them.

I finished this term by writing a 4000 word essay for Legacy that focused on how Shakespeare Movie adaptations affect an audiences understanding of Shakespeare's original text. I capped off Theatre Practice by performing two monologues, Joan La Pucelle from Henry VI Part 1 and Berowne from Love's Labour's Lost. The focus of the performances was to see how well we integrated the techniques we learned in class. Shakespeare and Society finished with our 'civic-Shakespeare' event What We May Be, which aimed "...to be a toe dip into Shakespeare and thoughts about identity..."(What We May Be Director's Note). We created a fashion show style performance with Shakespeare characters strutting their stuff. The Catwalk idea was inspired by the character promenade that was canceled during the Garrick Jubilee in 1769.

Here are some pictures from the event!

I hope to do a better job creating blog posts this term, but I make no promises!
